FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Obey Coaching?
Obey Coaching is a supportive, non-judgmental space where you get to explore your goals, emotions, and identity—with someone walking beside you, not ahead of you. We focus on healing, empowerment, and personal growth, especially for Indigenous youth and families. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or ready to level up, coaching helps you reconnect with who you are and where you want to go.
Is this therapy or counseling?
No. Coaching is not therapy. It doesn’t diagnose or treat mental health conditions.
Instead, it focuses on forward movement, empowerment, and personal healing using culturally rooted tools and real-life support.
How is it different from other programs?
Obey Coaching is:
-
Run by someone with lived experience (foster care, intergenerational trauma, healing)
-
Rooted in Indigenous knowledge, not colonial systems
-
Focused on empowerment, not punishment or fixing
-
Private, safe, and youth-centered
Do parents or caregivers join the sessions?
Sessions are confidential, but youth can invite parents or caregivers when appropriate. We also offer check-ins with families if the youth agrees.
